3-year-old girl dies after being run over in south Boise neighborhood

A South Boise neighborhood is mourning the death of a three-year-old girl who was run over by a pickup truck in a tragic accident Saturday evening.

Neighbors in the subdivision off Lake Hazel and Maple Grove preferred not to go on camera, but some visited the incident location, sharing their grief for the the victim, her family, and their community.

Officials marked the scene with neon street paint.

The child was rushed to the hospital Saturday evening where she died from her injuries.

INITIAL UPDATE:

The 3-year-old girl has been pronounced dead, according to the Ada County Sheriff's Office.

"It appears the driver of the truck had just pulled out of the driveway where the girl lives and was moving slowly down the street and did not see the girl was running alongside the truck when the collision occurred. The driver stopped and called 911 immediately. Ada County deputies and paramedics arrived moments later. Paramedics took the girl to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later," according to the Ada County Sheriff's Office blog.

Deputies are still collecting evidence and conducting interviews. Traffic will be restricted in the immediate area for several hours.

Ada County officials are investigating a tragic accident in a south Boise neighborhood, where a 3-year-old girl was run over by a truck driven by the child's mother.

The call came in at 5:16 p.m. Saturday from a neighborhood near Lake Hazel and Maple Grove.

Officials on scene denied an on-camera interview, but told 6 On Your Side the child was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities want to remind parents to be aware of your child's location at all times, especially when you're moving a vehicle.
