A suspect accused of attempting to drive his vehicle into officers during a dispute has been booked in the Ada County Jail.

The incident was called in on Sunday, November 29th as a domestic disturbance in the 700 block of N. Indiana.

When the first officer arrived, police say a man in a car tried to run him over. The officer shot at the man as he continued out of the driveway, hitting a second police car on the way out. Neither officer was hurt.

As it turns out, the officer's initial bullet hit the man. Police performed first aid on the 40-year-old suspect before an ambulance took him to a Boise hospital.

The suspect identified as Clifford O. Carter, 40, was booked into Ada County Jail on December 2nd and charged with attempted strangulation, domestic battery (traumatic injury) in the presence of a child, aggravated assault, two counts of intentional destruction of a telecommunication line or instrument, two counts of malicious injury to property and driving under the influence.

The three Caldwell Police Office involved in the shooting have only been identified by their rank and experience.
