A man accused of killing a 64-year-old Firebird Raceway employee with his vehicle has been charged with vehicular manslaughter, according to court records.

Tyler C. Martinez, of Boise, was arrested on April 8th after driving north on Development Avenue. According to police, Martinez crossed the center line and hit Joel Eggers.

Martinez’s car continued northbound until he stopped after hitting a fence.

Eggers was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Martinez was taken to Ada County Jail on a probation agent’s warrant following the crash.

Prosecutors claimed that Martinez had used meth prior to the accident.

Martinez is also charged with destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence in the case.

Martinez is being held on a $100,000 bond and will appear for a hearing on May 5th in Ada County Court.
