Firebird Raceway General Manager Scott New confirmed 64-year-old Joel Eggers died after he was hit by a car near Boise airport on Friday.
Police officers responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash near the intersection of South Development Avenue and West Robinson Road at 2:42 p.m. on Friday.
Witnesses told officers a car driving northbound on Development crossed the center line and southbound lane before leaving the roadway. The vehicle struck a pedestrian who was walking on the west side of the road, then continued northbound where it later came to a rest after colliding with a fence.
The victim, 64 years old man from Boise was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the vehicle, Tyler C. Martinez of Boise, was taken into custody on a probation agent’s warrant. He was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on that charge.
