Nyssa Police is asking for the public’s help in tracking down Jose Manuel Moreno, 32, of Nyssa, a man they call “extremely dangerous.”

“There is probable cause to believe Mr. Moreno caused serious physical injury to a female in Nyssa yesterday and fled the scene with a small child before police could respond,” said Nyssa Police Chief Raymond Rau.

Police say Moreno has an outstanding felony warrant from Malheur County for coercion and strangulation -- with a total bail amount of $100,000.

“He is considered extremely dangerous to women,” Rau stated adding, “Mr. Moreno has been known to hide in the past at his mother’s house on North First Street in Nyssa.”

According to Cheif Rau, the child was returned to a grandparent and Moreno said he would turn himself in.

However, Moreno has yet to do so.

Police say Moreno may be with a man named Dennis Steven Howard, a convicted felon from Idaho, last seen driving an older-model red pickup.

“Anyone found in the presence of Mr. Moreno when he is located will possibly face charges of harboring a fugitive and hindering prosecution,” Rau said.

If you have any information as to Moreno’s location. please contact the Malheur County Dispatch Center at 541-372-3825 or 541-473-5125.
