After standing for nearly 100 years, the Mercy Hospital in Nampa has been torn down by crews.

Originally built in 1919, the hospital was used by Canyon County residents until it was vacated in 1967 following the construction of the Mercy Medical Center at 1512 12th Ave Road.

The hospital had minimal use for decades until a fire broke out on January 2nd, 2016.

The fire gutted the property and officials were unsure on how the fire started until investigators discovered that it was likely caused by people inside of the building trying to keep warm.

A trash can that had a fire inside of it somehow caught the inside of the building on fire causing the structure to be a total loss.

No one was cited in the incident.
