Southern Idaho forecast calls for hot week after weekend storm chances

Hot and mostly dry weather is expected to settle into southern Idaho after a round of scattered thunderstorms this weekend, with temperatures likely climbing well into the 90s across both the Treasure Valley and Magic Valley through much of the upcoming week.

In the Boise area, partly cloudy skies and overnight lows around 64 degrees. Sunny and hotter conditions are forecast for Sunday, with highs near 91, beginning a stretch of temperatures in the 90s.

Temperatures in the Treasure Valley could peak near 94 on Monday and 96 on Tuesday under mostly sunny skies. Overnight lows are expected to remain mild, generally in the upper 50s to mid-60s. The hot pattern is forecast to continue through midweek, with highs near 95 Wednesday before easing slightly into the low 90s Thursday and Friday. By next Saturday, Boise is expected to stay sunny with highs around 89 degrees.

The Magic Valley is also expected to transition from rainy weather to summer heat. Twin Falls could see scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, with temperatures holding near 86 before dropping to around 65 tonight.

Sunny skies are forecast to return Sunday in Twin Falls with highs near 87. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms returns Monday afternoon, but the overall trend is expected to remain hot and mostly dry. High temperatures could reach around 90 Monday, 92 Tuesday and Wednesday, and remain in the upper 80s through next weekend.

Neighbors across southern Idaho should prepare for several days of hot afternoon temperatures and warm overnight conditions.
