The Idaho High School Activities Association Board of Directors has changed a mercy rule that is just a year old for 11-man football, delaying the start of the running clock for 5A and 3A games until the fourth quarter.
The old rule required the clock to run continuously whenever a team was leading by 40 points or more after halftime. Over 30 percent of high school football teams in the treasure valley were affected by this rule last year.
