Defense steps up big in Spring Game

Scoring wasn’t a major factor in Saturday’s game but the defense put up a solid effort of work.   They might have only come away with just one turnover but the group played with a hard-nosed style of the Bronco offense.

The offense was only able to get 20 points and struggled to move the ball in a rain-soaked contest.  It gave Coach Harsin some optimism having just two returning starters from last year’s squad.  It is worth noting the defense held the offense to just 4 yards on 99 plays.

“You can talk experience and all that, those guys were flying around.  The safeties are filling on the run they are playing play action and getting their hands on the ball.

“Our secondary is coming around, I think Coach Franklin and Coach Ambrose have done a really good job and we are still young.  The experience is not there but if those guys keep playing like that and you can get those corners like Tyler Horton and Mike Young playing that's going to help us in the back end,” said, Head Coach Bryan Harsin.
