The Albertsons Boise Open is set to begin in about a month.
Hillcrest country club hosted a media day to thank its partners and sponsors on Monday. The open is part of the Web.com tour. A stepping stone for pro-golfers before they head up to the PGA tour.
This year for every birdie made at the event proceeds will go to help Boise fire fighters, police and military in Boise.
"There were 1600 birdies made last year and Blue Cross of Idaho is pledging 40 dollars. It will be fun to be able to keep track of how many birdies there are and it will just add some new excitement," said, Boise Open Executive Director Jeff Sanders.
