BOISE, Ida. — Boise Police say a man is facing charges after a traffic stop leads to a drug trafficking arrest.
Police were conducting aggressive driving directed patrols in the construction zone area of I-84 and Cloverdale Thursday afternoon. Members of the Boise Police Neighborhood Contact Officer Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for illegal lane changes after noticing a car driving eastbound on the interstate. A K9 Unit also responded to assist on the stop and an open air search around the vehicle resulted in a positive alert.
Police say a search of the vehicle revealed a fire extinguisher that was hollowed out and containing a baggie filled with a brown powdery substance. Tests later showed a presumptive positive result for heroin. The baggie weighed 637 grams or around 1.4 pounds.
Officers later transported 28-year-old Ivan Coronel-Cabrera of Vancouver, Washington to the Ada County Jail where he was booked for felony drug trafficking.
