Pedestrian killed crossing I-84 in Meridian identified

UPDATE:

Idaho State Police have identified the pedestrian killed Friday night while crossing the interstate in Meridian.

Officials say 44-year-old Michele J. Stevenson of Boise was walking from the median to the right shoulder when she was struck and killed by an oncoming car on westbound I-84 near milepost 44.

Next of kin has been notified.

A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a car while trying to cross the Interstate in Meridian Friday night.

Idaho State Police say they responded to the single-car versus pedestrian accident on westbound Interstate 84 at milepost 44 around 10:06 p.m. Friday night.

Police say Tawny Taylor, 25, of Boise, ID, was driving westbound when the pedestrian tried to cross the Interstate from the median to the shoulder and was struck by Taylor's vehicle.

The pedestrian was transported by ground ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, ID, where they succumbed to their injuries.

The identity of the pedestrian has not been confirmed. Next of kin notifications are pending.

Taylor and her passenger, Dustin Reyna, 28, of Boise, ID, were wearing seatbelts. The westbound lanes of Interstate 84 were blocked for one and a half hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
