BOISE, Idaho — A memorial has been placed on Harrison Blvd to honor the young girl who died in a pedestrian vs. vehicle collision that happened on Tuesday afternoon.

Boise Police Chief Chris Dennison lamented the incident in a statement later that same evening, saying, “This is a parent’s worst nightmare, and tonight our hearts go out to the victim’s family, friends, and her community at large.”

Dan Hollar, who serves as the public affairs administrator for the Boise School District, said that the district's Crisis Team has been activated to support the Washington Elementary community, and counselors will be available to offer assistance to students and staff.

In addition to the added resources at Washington Elementary, Hollar explained that the Boise School District has "provided families and staff with resources to help children process grief, including guidance on developmental responses to grief, ways to support children emotionally, and information about Boise-area community support services."

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
