Veterans helping veterans in Meridian today at the Advanced Auto Center.

The center, owned by local vets, hosted a military appreciation event to help raise money for local charities to help even more Idaho veterans.

The fundraiser raised money for the Blue Star Mothers of America which sends care packages to our troops deployed overseas.

The event also assists the Boise State Veteran Affairs Emergency Fund, which helps vets navigate their educational benefits and adjust to college life after a career in the military in order to earn a degree.

"It is a really good program so we are trying to raise a lot of money to help that out try to give back to the community," said Brady Lamm with the Advanced Automotive Center. "When I got back from my deployment a lot of these organizations helped me out so I really just wanted to give back and do my part."

Advanced Auto Center also has a mural that was donated bye Resurrected Tattoo Company, and veterans were encouraged to sign the piece of art dedicated to those who have served.
