The Mile Marker 14 Fire near Lucky Peak is now 100% contained. Fire officials say all roads in the area are open to the public. The fire has been burning since last Tuesday and burned a total of 4,306 acres. Despite the diligent work of firefighters, officials say smoke may still be visible from Highway 21 throughout the day as small islands of grass, sage and timber on the northern portion of the fire continue to smolder. Crews will continue to mop up and monitor those areas.
Drivers along Highway 21 are asked to be careful when driving through the area, as firefighters will be working on the roadway and a variety of equipment may still be close to the road.
