BOISE, Idaho — Funeral homes are one of many essential businesses having to tailor services to comply with the State and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.

Summers Funeral Home in Boise and Meridian is harnessing the power of innovation and technology, giving families options for what they can do when they’ve lost a loved one.

Facebook live and web conferencing are some of the newer methods offered; this service allows family and friends near and far to live stream the ceremony. According to Summers Vice President Justin Baxley, other options include giving the families the option to reserve a time at a later date.

Baxley understands that most families are not only struggling with the loss of a loved one, but they’re struggling with the loss of the traditions.

“Sometimes setting a date in the future, even if that date has to be augmented, can give peace of mind being able to know you’ll have that event,” said Baxley.

Since Governor Little’s stay-at-home order went into effect, Baxley says a majority of families who have recently lost a loved one have chosen cremation or immediate burials in an open ceremony with long term plans, including a memorial event.

In these trying, uncertain times, Baxley assures the community that Summers Funeral Homes can find solutions for the problems that death creates.
