BOISE — ESPN staff and world-class X Games athletes will be returning to Boise’s Rhodes Skate Park for the “Road to X Games: Boise Park Qualifier” on June 28 and 29, Boise Parks and Recreational Department officials announced Wednesday.

The invitation-only competition gives top skateboarders and BMX riders from around the world the chance to compete for an invitation to X Games Minneapolis.

This will be the third consecutive year Boise will host a park qualifier. More than 12,000 fans attended the two-day event last year to watch qualifying rounds, visit vendor booths, and check out the free family fun zone near Rhodes Skate Park

“After two successful Road to X Games Boise Qualifier events, we are excited to work with the team at Boise Parks and Recreation and all local partners to bring an even better experience to fans at Rhodes Skate Park in year three,” said ESPN X Games Director of Event Development Ryan McGuinness. “The fan engagement at these two events has shown what a great match the Park Qualifier is for this youthful, active city.”

The Boise Park Qualifier is part of the Road to X Games series and features sixty invited athletes in three disciplines at Rhodes Skate Park: Men’s Skateboard Park, Women’s Skateboard Park and BMX Park. Top finishers in Friday’s elimination rounds will move on to the final rounds on Saturday.

Boise is again partnering with Idaho Tourism and the Boise Convention and Visitors Bureau to plan and promote the event.

Boise Parks and Recreation will be offering tickets for bleacher seats to watch qualifying rounds up-close at Rhodes Skate Park. More details on ticket sales will be announced in the spring.
