As people are getting into the spirit of giving, they're also carrying on with long-time holiday traditions.
The 32nd Annual Reindeer Dash kicked off Saturday morning near Boise's downtown YMCA.
Runners of all ages showed up in festive attire as a costume contest was held prior to the race.
Instead of the regular countdown to begin, Santa Clause, himself, said "Ho, ho, ho... Merry Christmas" before folks could take off from the starting line.
"I have been the official starter here for many, many years," said Santa Clause. "The YMCA is a great family institution, and I love to be able to help families."
The YMCA Christmas run included three event categories: A one-mile run, two-mile run and six-mile run through Boise's north end.
