BOISE — The Idaho Foodbank is kicking off Picnic in the Park on Monday June 3rd. It offers kids ages 1 to 18 free lunch services at 18 different parks.
Nearly 70,000 kids are food-insecure in Idaho according to the Foodbank, which means summer raises some concern about where their next meal is coming from. The sack lunch gets kids fed and outdoors.
“Not only do we provide that nourishment that's so important for kids to continue to receive throughout the year, but it becomes a fun activity," said president/CEO of The Idaho Foodbank Karen Vauk.
Parents can also purchase the lunch for themselves at only a dollar. Kick off is June 3rd at WInstead Park.
