PAYETTE — Police are looking for information about a hit and run accident that sent two girls to the hospital on Thursday afternoon.
The Argus Observer reported that two girls, ages 8 and 10, were treated and released from the hospital following a hit-and-run on North Main Street in Payette on Thursday.
Payette police are looking for any witnesses who saw the accident, in which a silver Jeep ran over one of the girls’ feet, according to Chief Mark Clark.
The girls described the driver as an elderly woman with white hair and glasses, Clark said.
The girls said they yielded to her vehicle when crossing the street, according to Clark. She waved them ahead so they could cross. As they crossed the street, she accelerated, hitting the girls and fleeing the scene.
Police are reviewing security footage from a nearby bank. Witnesses should call the Payette Police Department at (208) 642-6026.
