FRUITLAND, Idaho — One person is dead after an accident at an interstate rest area near Fruitland.
On Saturday, December 29, shortly before 4:30 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated the fatal crash on eastbound Interstate 84 at milepost one, in the Snake River View Rest Area, west of Fruitland.
Authorities say Franklin Bashon, 44, of Ontario Oregon, was driving westbound on I-84 near milepost 1, in a 2005 Hyundai Sonata. Bashon drove through the median, crossed the eastbound lanes of I-84, entered the rest area, and impacted two parked trailers.
Bashon succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.
Next of kin have been notified.
