A new $18.5 milion YMCA is set to open May 25 near the corner of Amity and Eagle Roads in south Meridian, because of a unique partnership and the support of the community this new health center will open without having any debt.

Six on Your Side took a tour of the new facility and found that it is the first YMCA to feature a partnership with five different organizations.

St. Luke's hospital, Meridian Parks & Rec, the Meridian libraries, the West Ada School District and the YMCA all came together to make the new building possible, but this collaboration will also provide more opportunities for the community.

"We are going to try and work together to address the health of the community, to change people's lives for the better," said Mark Kapuscinski.

The YMCA will sit right next to Hillsdale Elementary and there will be shared spaces like a gym and a nurse practitioner from St. Luke's that children from the school will be able to visit.

More then 750 people have already signed up for a membership.
