An Army National Guard Soldier from Nevada died in a tank rollover accident Tuesday night.

Officials say the accident happened at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, California. The deceased soldier, Nevada Army Guard Staff Sgt. David W. Gallagher, 51, is a member of the Nevada Army National Guard's 1st Battallion, 221st Cavalry Regiment of Las Vegas.

The 1-221st is part of the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team. The brigade is headquartered in Boise with battalions from Idaho, Montana, Nevada and Oregon.

“The entire organization is at a terrible loss,” said Col. Scott Sheridan, 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team commander. “Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of our fallen Soldier. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
