A man who fatally stabbed his girlfriend in Nampa and fled the scene in 2015 has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder according to court records.

Brandon Shaw entered a plea of first-degree murder in exchange to drop two counts of use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony, assault with intent to commit a serious felony and burglary.

Shaw was arrested in Gem County following the murder of his then girlfriend 23-year-old Chelsey Rae Malone in November of 2015.

Shaw entered the home that the two shared located on the 2700 block of Berlin Place in Nampa with a rifle and tried to shoot Malone, but the rifle jammed.

Malone tried to flee the house and Shaw stabbed her multiple times with kitchen knives. Police arrived on scene and found Malone in the street where she was transported to a local hospital by medical personnel but died shortly afterwards.

Shaw is scheduled to be sentenced on June 24th, 2016 at 9:00 p.m.
