Police say a Nampa man in behind bars, accused of first degree murder. Police say he stabbed a woman to death outside her home.

A husband whose wife saw the aftermath of the attack told us the neighborhood is extremely shaken.

"My wife called me up frantically, someone had been stabbed," Travis White, a neighbor said. "She had just called 911, the police had just shown up at the scene and by then there was a lifeless body in the cul de sac."

White’s wife was home with their son before the incident. They said they heard screams and shouting and then a woman ran from a house on the cul de sac of Venice and Berlin Lane.

Shortly after they went outside a vehicle sped off leaving a 23 year old woman lying in the street.

"She came out when she heard the screams, grabbed a phone came out here and tended to her until paramedics or an officer showed up," White said.

"Paramedics arrived on scene, a female was transported to a local hospital,” Lt. Joe Ramirez said. “Shortly after arriving in the hospital we were notified that she was deceased."

A suspect was arrested near Emmett about an hour after the stabbing and taken into custody. 23-year-old Brandon Shaw has now been charged with first degree murder and is being held in the Gem County jail.

Police say Shaw and the victim were living together. The victim was a mother but her children weren’t home when the incident happened.

"It's pretty devastating, I mean we have a pretty good tight community right here, every neighbor knows everybody and then when we have something like this happened here we start to question," White said.
