The Ada County Coroner has identified the man killed in an officer-involved shooting in a west Boise neighborhood Sunday.
Coroner Dotti Owens said Daniel Norris, 33, of Meridian died of multiple gunshot wounds in the 21900 block of Cressida place in Boise, after an altercation with Meridian Police officers.
The Meridian Police Department also released the name of the officer involved. In a news release, Meridian Police Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrecha said Officer Kyle Mikowski was released from the hospital Monday afternoon and is recovering at home.
The Department said a second male suspect who was with Norris at the time of the shootout turned himself in. Police are not releasing his name at this time.
A female suspect is still at large, but police do not believe there is a danger to the public.
Officers tried to stop a suspect on an outstanding felony warrant around 1:40 p.m. Sunday. Reports say Norris ran from the vehicle and shot at officers as they pursued him. Mikowski was shot in the legs -- but returned fire, killing the suspect.
Following standard procedure, the Critical Incident Task Force is continuing its investigation into the shooting.
