Earlier today the Nampa and Meridian Irrigation District announced that six Ada and Canyon county properties will be sold at a public auction later this month. One property is located in Boise, there are two in Meridian and three in Nampa.

Before a home goes up for public auction, a certified letter informing property owners of the pending action is sent out and according the Nampa and Meridian Irrigation, those letters are some of many written notices sent out to the public.

Secretary and treasurer for NMID, Daren Coon spoke with us and said, “ Idaho law is very specific about what steps the district is required to take to recover the tax money owed on the property.”

He continued, “the assessment goes out in the fall of the year so mark it on your calendar and that way if you don't receive a notice for whatever reason if it doesn't arrive at least you can be proactive and contact the district and ask what the assessment is on a particular piece of property.”

The six homes will be auctioned off on August 21st if owners are unable to provide payment for their delinquent taxes. To find out whether or not you have an unpaid irrigation tax with Nampa and Meridian Irrigation District you can visit NMID.org.
