Lightning-caused wildfires burning in southern Idaho prompt evacuations

IDAHO — Firefighters are responding to multiple lightning-sparked fires burning in Southern Idaho.

According to USWFS, the Flint Fire southeast of Jordan Valley is currently estimated at 1,000+ acres. Resources assigned to the fire include multiple engines, a water tender, and a helicopter.

Nearby, crews are also battling the 25+ acre Battle Fire near Riddle and the 15-20 acre Rawlin Fire near CJ Strike Reservoir. Estimated control of the Rawlin Fire is set for 10 p.m. Monday.

The Owyhee County Sheriff's Office has issued evacuations in the areas surrounding these fires:

  • Silver City — Level 2 SET
  • All of Riddle — Level 3 GO
  • Dewey Peak to Black Warrior Mountain to Boulder Creek — Level 3 GO
  • South directly to Flint Creek Road — Level 3 GO
