HOT ON HOME VIDEO: 'Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice'

Phil Villarreal's novel, Zeta Male, is available at Amazon.

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Here are the best recent home video releases:

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition

Including director Zack Snyder's R-rated, three-hour cut of the film as well as the theatrical edition, the superhero showdown provides ample pyrotechnics but misses out on the hearts of both protagonists in a jumbled effort to pit them against one another. The extended cut is a more cohesive version of the plot, if far more tiring than the theatrical version. Extras in the Blu-ray/DVD/digital copy combo include a slew of featurettes that exhaustively look at many angles of the story, with definitive takes on Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). Bitten: The Final Season

Laura Vandervoot stars as the world's only female werewolf in this stylish conclusion to the three-season Syfy drama, which looks into the heroine's double life as a photographer who secretly leads a virtuous wolfpack in an ongoing struggle against dark forces. Extras include deleted and extended scenes and a featurette that looks back on the season and series as a whole.

The 100: Season 3

The CW series, about a post-apocalyptic setting in which only 100 people are left to survive and rebuild society, has picked up a sizable cult following. Bolstered with commanding visuals and smart characterization, it's worth a look for anyone looking for a new guilty pleasure. Extras in the DVD set include deleted scenes, a gag reel, a 2015 Comic-Con panel and several featurettes examining various characters and themes.

Outatime: Saving the DeLorean Time Machine

A documentary geared squarely at the hordes of "Back to the Future Fans" looks at the original prop car used in the trilogy, which fell into disarray and neglect over the decades. Dedicated fans and studio executives team to give the vehicle the "Top Gear"-style restoration it deserves. More than 90 minutes of bonus content is featured on the Blu-ray, including deleted scenes, a photo gallery and footage of the premiere.

Person of Interest: Season 5

The popular CBS drama wraps up its half-decade run with a satisfying conclusion, about a team made up of a former agent, NYPD cop and cyber sleuths who band together to expose and stop an all-encompassing threat to national security. Michael Emerson, Jim Caviezel, Amy Acker and Sameen Shaw generate a believable chemistry that helps pull the narrative along. Extras in the Blu-ray/digital copy combo include the 2015 Comic-Con panel, an emotional retrospective featurette and an informative rundown of all the revelations in the final season.
