NAMPA, Idaho — 8,200lbs...

That's how much beef the Idaho Foodbank was able to purchase after a local feed company, and it's industry partner donated over $14,000.

Earlier this month we told you that the Idaho Foodbank has seen an increase in demand as unemployment rates in the state hit a record high. With the increasing demand for food, the Foodbank saw a significant decrease in its protein supply. The Foodbank strives to provide nutritious meals to all food-insecure Idahoans, so a deficit in this area was less than ideal.

This donation was made in conjunction with the "Food for Hope" campaign. Agri Beef and Performix are based right here in Nampa, and their industry partner Nutra Blend works across the country.

About 22,000 six-ounce servings of high-quality beef will be available to Idaho's food-insecure children and their families.
