NOTUS, Idaho — Idaho State Police is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that happened Tuesday around 6 P.M. The crash was at the intersection of US 20 and Purple Sage Road, 1 mile west of Notus.
41-year-old Dustin Steinhaus, of Parma, was traveling west on US 20 in a Volkswagen Jetta. 40-year-old John Campor, of Morristown, New Jersey, was traveling east in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. 61-year-old Janet Battersby, of Newton, NJ, was a passenger in the Jeep. Steinhaus crossed the center line and hit the Jeep. Both vehicles came to rest in the lanes of travel. Campor and Battersby were wearing seatbelts; Steinhaus was not.
Campor was taken to West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell by ground ambulance. Battersby was taken to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise by ground ambulance. Steinhaus died from his injuries at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.
Both lanes of US 20 were blocked for 2 hours and 45 minutes after crash. The crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police.
