The Idaho State Board of Education approved a temporary rule change to how attendance is reported by Idaho public schools.

The Board announced the new temporary rule allows schools to count students learning remotely for average daily attendance, which impacts how funds are distributed to schools. The rule is effectively immediately, according to the board.

The rule will return to the Board after a 21-day comment period then submitted to the legislature as a pending rule for consideration in January, according to the board.
