A visit from a controversial social scientist has progressive groups speaking out. Charles Murray, who was labeled a white nationalist by the left leaning Southern Poverty Law Center, is set to be the keynote speaker at a Idaho Freedom Foundation fundraiser tonight in Eagle. Murray has rejected the label.

A counter event held by United Vision of Idaho this afternoon outside the Goodness Land Restaurant was set to reject bigotry in Idaho and asked others to embrace diversity.

"If we don't step up and make our voice be heard, then we are equally as guilty as those that perpetrate these lies, ideas, ect. as those that are sitting silently and not doing anything," said Phillip Thompson, of the Idaho Black History Museum.

During the event, United Vision of Idaho sold books that explore and confront discrimination, and celebrate diversity. They plan to distribute them to rural K-12 schools across Idaho.
