BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Foodbank is enhancing their Picnic in the Park Experience Tuesday, July 30, with Cone with a Cop at Borah Park. The event is running from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Picnic in the Park provides free lunch to food insecure children ages one to 18 in designated parks in the Boise area Monday through Friday until August 9. When schools close for the summer, so does the access kids have to free or reduced price meals. Picnic in the Park aims to address this challenge while also offering entertaining and educational activities.

Kids are invited to enjoy a free sweet treat Tuesday while interacting with local police officers. They will have the chance to ask questions and learn about the people behind the badges.

Happy Day Brands will also be at the park handing out free two pound family-size packages of their oatmeal. The distribution will continue at other Picnic in the Park events over the summer. The company has a goal of handing out 10,000 servings of superfood oats to Idahoans in need. The donation is in addition to the 150,000 servings the company has committed to the Idaho Foodbank School Pantry program.

If you are interested in participating in the Picnic in the Park events, text "food" or "comida" to 877-877 to find the nearest location. Parents can also get a meal at the site for a low cost.
