The Ford Idaho Center is hosting the "Gift of Life" blood drive today, just in time for the holidays. The Red Cross says that blood donations often decline as regular donors are busy with holiday activities and travel. Blood donors are urged to donate now to ensure blood is available for medical treatments and emergencies during the holiday season.

"A blood donation can give a patient more time with their friends and family this holiday season," said Nathan Gilbert, Red Cross Donor Recruitment account manager, Lewis and Clark Blood Services Region. "This drive is the perfect opportunity to give a meaningful gift to someone in need."

If you donate blood now between Wednesday, the Red Cross will give you a five dollar Amazon gift card via email. If you donate at the Gift of Life drive, you will receive a long-sleeved Red Cross T-shirt.

All blood types are needed for a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver's license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. If you are over 17 and weigh at least 110 pounds and are in good health, you may be eligible to donate. High School Students and donors 18 and under may have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
