First responders in the Treasure Valley are getting free coffee

NAMPA — First responders Starbucks trips are being comped by a local woman named "Big Mama."

Her highly anticipated "Coffee 4 Cops" event started twelve years ago after she bought two Boise Police Officers a cup of coffee. The event was exclusive to police agencies across the Treasure Valley. Still, last year, after raising $5,100, Big Mama realized she had enough money and support from the community to include all first responders across the valley.

Big Mama hasn't always had friendly encounters with law enforcement. But she hasn't let her run-ins with the law define her or consume her. Instead, she cleaned up her act, and at 27 years sober believe it's only right to give back to the "amazing men and women that put their lives at risk every day."

All drive-thru Starbucks locations in Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Garden City, Nampa, and Caldwell are participating.
