A house fire in Boise’s North End Thursday claimed the life of a family pet.
Four engines, two trucks and two battalion chiefs responded to a home in the 1800 block of North 30th Street about 10:20 p.m., according to Boise Fire Department officials.
Smoke was billowing from the attic when crews arrived.
“The residents were not home at the time of the fire,” said BFD spokeswoman Tammy Barry. “Two dogs were inside when firefighters arrived. One dog was found expired in the house; the other small dog was rescued by firefighters and reunited with its owners.”
“It is unclear if there were working smoke detectors in the house,” Barry stated.
The Boise Firefighters Local 149 Burnout Fund assisted the family with immediate needs, she added.
“The fire was confined to one room. There was minor damage to the attic area,” Barry said.
The cause is under investigation.
