Update: The Bureau of Land Management (Twin Falls District) says the Drops Fire is no longer threatening structures, as of approximately 10 a.m. this morning.

According to BLM, the fire is expected to be contained by Sunday, August 2, and controlled by August 5.

BLM says the fire is currently 3,827 acres in size, fueled by smoldering grass and brush.

Original Story: The Bureau of Land Management (Twin Falls District) says the Drops Fire burning right outside of Shoshone is threatening multiple structures.

The fire is about 3,000 acres, the BLM said. Off-road access roads are closed but major travel roads remain open.

It's not clear how many structures are threatened, or what kind, but the BLM says high winds in the area are creating extreme fire conditions. The BLM is describing the fire as "wind-driven and very active."

BLM is sending additional resources to fight the fire--but are asking the public to avoid the area if possible.
