CALDWELL, Idaho — U.S. Deputy Education Secretary Mitchell Zais will be in Caldwell Monday as part of U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos' 2019 Back to School tour. Zais will visit two schools in the Treasure Valley that are rethinking education and preparing students for success.

Zais will start at One Stone, a student-led, tuition-free, independent school. Students learn and practice skills like communication, leadership, innovation, empathy and critical thinking.

In the afternoon, Dr. Zais will visit Elevate Academy in Caldwell, Idaho, which is a year-round technical education high school for at-risk students that opened this year. Elevate Academy provides students access to multiple career pathways that prepare them to enter the workforce or pursue higher education after graduation.

While at the school, Zais will explain how the Secretary’s Education Freedom Scholarships proposal, introduced in both the House and Senate, could expand CTE options like this one to more students in the state.
