A film crew plans to shoot a car commercial for Toyota on the streets of Boise this week.

The City of Boise confirms three production companies are working to shoot the commercial in and around the downtown area, including Harrison Blvd., Bogus Basin Rd. and Black Canyon.

The Downtown Boise Association alerted its members that a series of closures could impact traffic and parking on the streets on Sunday August 23 and Wednesday August 26.

“Film crews in conjunction with Boise Police Department motor escorts, temporary traffic control or temporarily reserved parking spaces may be seen throughout the day, as filming will take place early morning through late night,” the DBA wrote to its members. “Crews may stop occasionally for filming purposes, but mostly filming will be driving shots or drone footage.”

“Much like a rolling road closure for a race downtown, officers will move in and close the road, let the film crew do their shoot, then reopen the road as fast as possible on those two days,” city spokesperson Lana Graybeal told BoiseDev. “There is not a scheduled time for when which roads will be closed each day.”

The city said it didn’t require a special permit for the shoot, but the companies will pay to offset overtime paid to Boise Police Department officers.

It’s unclear how smoky skies could impact the planned shoot.
