Zoo Boise is offering an excuse to take a break from the hectic holiday season.

Everyone gets in for free at the zoo Saturday. It's their way of saying thanks.

People who walk through the gates not only pay a fee to keep operations running smoothly but a portion also goes to their wildlife conservation efforts.

All the different animals also get to open up their Christmas presents at the Claus 'N'Paws annual event.

"It's just a great way for us to give back to the community, and we have lots of people who come down," says Steve Burns, director of Zoo Boise. "The weather is supposed to be pretty nice. There are places as you stroll along the zoo where you can come in and get warm."

Last admission is at 4:30 p.m.

Be sure to look for Santa Clause who will be available for photos in exchange for a small donation that will benefit programs at the zoo. Besides the photo opportunity, there will be holiday crafts and face painting.
