A toddler reported missing Monday morning near Kuna has died after being found in a canal.

Shortly before 10 a.m., Canyon County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received a report of a two-year-old boy who was reported missing from a home in the 6000 block of McDermott Road.

Deputies arrived on the scene about ten minutes later, officials said.

They were assisted by the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, the Kuna Fire Department and Canyon County paramedics.

“About 10:22 a.m., officers and family members searching the area found the child in the Mora Canal approximately three-quarter of a mile west of the residence,” said Canyon County spokesman Joe Decker.

CPR was initiated and the child was transported to a Nampa hospital. He later died at the hospital, Decker said.
