BOISE, Idaho — A registered sex offender has been booked into the Ada County Jail after police say he exchanged illicit digital content with an underage girl.

On Tuesday, August 20, Boise Police officers helped the Cut bank, Montana Police Department investigate an endangered runaway girl who was believed to be in the Boise area.

Reports indicated that the juvenile -– identified only as a girl under the age of sixteen -- had likely come to Boise to meet with a man who is a registered sex offender.

Officers located both the man and the girl in the man’s car
on the 2700 block of Vista Avenue.

Investigators said they found evidence the teenager and the man, identified as 56-year-old Aaron Lane, had been talking via social media and phone for the past year.

“Officers also located evidence that illicit digital content had been exchanged between the two in that time,” according to a Boise Police Department e-mail.

Lane was arrested for felony sexual exploitation of a child. The girl was taken to the Ada County Juvenile Detention Center, while Montana law enforcement authorities arrange to reunite her with family, the e-mail said.

Boise Police SVU detectives are investigating to see if there may be any other victims connected to the suspect.

Detectives ask that anyone who may have further information about Aaron Lane and other possible victims to notify investigators at Crime Stoppers by calling 343-COPS (2677), by visiting www.343COPS.com [343cops.com], or leave a tip using the “P3 Tips” app for your mobile device.
