Idaho officials are investigating the death of a 56-year-old inmate at a men's prison, south of Boise.
The Idaho Department of Correction says 56-year-old Aurelio Moya Barajas died early Saturday morning.
Authorities say a correctional officer found Barajas on the floor of his single-bed cell in the Idaho Maximum Security Institution at 2 a.m. and staff started life-saving measures.
Ada County paramedics declared Barajas dead at about 3:30 a.m. The Ada County Coroner's Office will determine the cause of death.
Barajas was convicted of first-degree murder and in 1993 was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole.
