EMMETT, Ida. — This Wednesday, the 85th annual Emmett Cherry Festival is set to get underway with a carnival, live music and more! This year's theme is "Picking Kindness. What's your superpower?"

The community of Emmett and all of Gem County has been celebrating the abundance of the valley since the 1930s. The Cherry Festival is the longest continually running event in the region and is always held during the second full week of June.

Traditional events, concerts and the carnival all happen in the Emmett City Park from Wednesday, June 12th through Saturday, June 15th. Other celebrations and events take place throughout the week, including the Cherry Festival Children's Parade on Friday. Opening ceremonies will kick off at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

The family-friendly festival features plenty of events at no cost, attracting over 50,000 people each year. The festival offers free daily entertainment and nightly concerts, the parade and children's parade, free entry into all contests and more. There is a cost for the carnival. Those tickets can be found here.

Events during the 2019 Cherry Festival include a Quilt Show, Cherry Pit Spit Contest, Cherry Festival Car Show, and more. For a full list, click here. You can also find more information here or on Facebook.
