One person is dead after a crash between a logging truck and motorcycle.

Idaho State Police say 39-year-old Nicholas Bendawald was driving northbound on US95 on a tractor that was pulling a trailer, and 69-year-old Frederic Smith was riding a motorcycle westbound on SH13 with a group of other riders when the first rider pulled out onto southbound US95 from westbound SH13.

Smith followed the rider, pulling out in front of Bendawald. Bendawald tried to stop but couldn't, and hit Smith.

An off duty Meridian Deputy Chief Fire Marshal administered life saving measures to Smith, who was then transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Officials say Smith was wearing a helmet and Bendawald was wearing a seatbelt.

The investigation is ongoing.
