BOISE — UPDATE: Power has been restored to the affected areas.

Idaho Power crews are working to restore power to 14,000 homes and businesses in west Boise, after a massive power outage was reported in the area Thursday morning.

“There is an issue at the Ustick substation,” said Idaho Power spokesman Brad Bowlin. “We have technicians on the scene working to address the problem and restore power as soon as possible.”

The outage was first reported about 11:25 a.m.

Homes and businesses impacted by the outage are those from Ustick Road to just south of Fairview Avenue, and from Cole Road west to Five Mile Road.

Since the outage also impacts traffic signals, Idaho Power officials remind drivers to treat intersections in the outage area as four-way stops.
