FRUITLAND, Idaho — A Fruitland man has been killed in an accident at a construction site northwest of Boise, according to the Payette County Sheriff's Office.

Payette County Dispatch received a call at 9:39 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, about a welfare check on 42-year-old Jeremy Eggers of Fruitland. Eggers had been working on the property at 3705 Elmore Road, moving dirt with a skidsteer, authorities said. Friends and family had not heard from Eggers since Friday.

After searching the property, deputies found Eggers and the skidsteer in a pond near where he was working. The Ada County Dive Team assisted in recovering Eggers' body and the skidsteer.

Next of kin has been notified.

The incident is under investigation by the Payette County Sheriff's Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

This was the third fatal construction site death in two months in Payette County. In April, two men died in a trench collapse in New Plymouth while attempting to install pipes.
