MERIDIAN — One of the Meridian Youth Baseball teams is getting ready to go to the Babe Ruth Youth League World Series this year. Last year, the 9U team won the regional tournament. They will be playing in the 10U world series this year.

Jake Hines, president of Meridian Youth Baseball says the organization provides baseball opportunities for almost 1,600 kids throughout the Spring and the Fall. There's still a chance for some age groups from Meridian to go to the world series if they win at regionals.

"It's huge for us. I think it's awesome for our kids to be able to celebrate and represent Idaho and represent the city of Meridian as they go to that world series," said Hines.

The Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament will be Thursday, July 18th through Saturday, July 20th in Meridian at Settlers Park.

The world series will be played in August in Phenix City, Alabama. For more information head to, baberuthleague.org
