RUPERT — Although many cities and towns have decided to cancel their New Year's Festivities, the city of Rupert will be putting on its second annual Beet Drop. The event will take place despite the fact Minidoka County is in the High-Risk Level.
There is a 13.53% positivity rate, and it averages 4.41 cases per 100,000 over a 14-day rolling basis.
However, city officials approved the idea since organizers outlined a plan that follows both state and local health and safety protocols. The event will be held outside in Rupert Town Square so that people can practice social distancing, and there will be no indoor accommodations.
The event will feature live music, a beer garden and a firework display once midnight hits to welcome 2021.
